Brief History
In 1986, eighteen months after leaving school, John joined the R.A.F with the intention of becoming a Physical Training Instructor (PTI). Sadly, due to a minor sight defect in one eye, John was not able to become a PTI so left the RAF in 1989. He began a career in sales but due to job commitments, he could not continue training as he would have liked to and he feared he was becoming lazy. In 1991 John moved to Fuengirola in Spain and joined a gym called Nuevo Estillo, owned by a famous Spanish bodybuilder called Paco Mula. It was there that he decided to get into bodybuilding and started to train with this in mind, despite being told he did not really have the right body type for bodybuilding. Little did he know at that point just how far his passion for training would take him and how wrong his critcs were.
Returning to the UK in 1992, John joined Busy Bodies gym owned by Paul Heatley and found a great training partner, Mike Codling, who helped him to prepare for his first bodybuilding show. Paul heatley introduced John to Kerry Keyes who was renowned for being the 'man to know' when it came to bodybuilding (Kerry is the owner of CNP Professional and is also Ricky Hatton's nutritional advisor & helps him with his weight training). Under Kerry's expert guidance, training at Kerry's Gym Betta Bodies, John won four competitions in his first year and it was clear that he had something special to offer the sport.
After winning his third British title John was awarded an IFBB Pro card, which enabled him to compete with the best in the world. He has made 12 professional appearances in competitions all over the world and will no doubt soon achieve his lifelong goal of taking his rightful place on stage at the Mr Olympia contest.
John has also had a dream of owning his own training facility & many of his friends & fans have been suggesting the same to him for years. Can you see a pattern buiding here?........
